the definitionMeeting Architecture is the discipline that focuses on the content side of meetings and conferences: al meeting objectives in the Learning, networking and motivation of participants. The Identification of objectives, the meeting design (formats, conceptual and practical building blocks), the execution of the conference and eventually the assessment of results (evaluation and measuring of meeting results up to level 5 ROI). Like an architect that helps the house owner to build a house, a meeting architect helps the meeting owner (who is never a professional in meetings) to build a meeting in four (IDEA) phases:

the curriculumA curriculum for the discipline of meeting Architecture is being developed. The document was started by Sue Tinnish in 2008 and has received input from several individuals. the Project: Meeting Architecture 2011 |
||||
May 28th 2009, Frankfurt, Germany. In Frankfurt the first support is gathered from some of the largest Industry Associations. During a round table meeting many positive comments were heard and the potential of collaboration was mentioned. |
||||
May 4th, 2009 The Paper is finalized and available for all. Its final tile is 'The Meeting Architecture Manifesto.' Thanks to the editor Elling Hamso and the many contributors this document is now the basis for a project that will lead to more tangible outcome and support by the industry organizations: 'meeting Architecture 2011' (The name changed from 2020 to 2011 so we can focus on the short term task of creating educational components for future educational programs in collaboration with the industry organizations.) A twelve page document is available for all that are interested and it may be published. The web sitewww.meetingarchitecture.org is started and will focus on the Project MA2011. |

January 8 - 9 2009, Bal Harbour Florida, USA. The second Meeting Architecture 2020™ conclave took place in the Regent Bal Harbour. There 18 participants met: from corporate planners over media to Academics. Based on the draft White Paper from Copenhagen, this group focused on completing the paper for a comprehensive and long term vision. We had some well know and respected people including an MPI past International President, chief editors of the largest magazines, recognized masters in meeting design etc.

November 18-19 2008 COPENHAGEN, Denmark. The first of two Meeting Architecture 2020™ conclaves took place in Copenhagen. The support from Ole Sorang and Rezidor were instrumental. Elling Hamso did a great job in facilitation. The 18 industry top people invested 2 days of their time and generated a wealth of ideas and topics. These were discussed in small groups and feedback to the whole group was regularly given. The dinner had some additional guests including the organizers of the upcoming UN Climate conference. On day two the group addressed the strategy and tactics for a whole range of issues we consider essential to the success. We need to recognize the tremendous support form Rezidor for fully hosting this event including the dinner and the MPI chapter meeting. Pictures: see Meeting Architecture Facebook Group. |

EVENTS REVIEW: Elling Hamso from the European ROI Institute wrote: "Having explained in this well written and easy flowing book the need for the meeting architect, a manifesto for a new profession as he calls it, Vanneste passes the challenge on to associations, corporations and universities to further define the role and body of knowledge of the meeting architect and to develop the curriculum for the university degrees required to make it a professional reality. After reading the book I have no doubt, there is only one way forward. " read more |

Lyrics:
What is the architect doing? He is by the riverside What is he thinking out there? He is committing egocide Now isn’t that a strange thing? Well to him it feels just Well we guess a person’s gotta do, What a person feels he must
|
He said: I won’t throw myself from the pier I’m gonna go home and shut up for a year And when that year is over I’ll reappear And have a solution I’ve reason to believe that what I find Is gonna change the face of human kind And all these years before well I was blind That’s my conclusion Cause I’m the architect Now the man has understood That outer space is overrated About all the problems on this earth we should Worry now to solve them later And so he’s brooding and alluding on a perfect design He thinks that working on behalf of himself is a crime He flashes out by the water, a view so divine He’s the architect of his own fate, a man in his prime |
He said: I won’t throw myself from the pier I’m gonna go home and shut up for a year And when that year is over I’ll reappear And have a solution I’ve reason to believe that what I find Is gonna change the face of human kind And all these years before well I was blind That’s my conclusion And so he drew a pentagon Thinking it through a geodesic dome From the coast of Tahiti, to the hills of Rome Step aside cause the man will take the Nobel prize home Now if these aspirations bother you Well you are just you, you don’t have a clue I’m sticking to the plan I will see it through Let there be no confusion Cause I’m the architect |
